The Dove Service has been successful in gaining funding from The National Lottery Community Fund for a Children & Young People’s (C&YP) project in Staffordshire, Cheshire and Wirral. The aim of this project is to support communities across each region with any aspect of grief. We are there to promote awareness about the impact that grief can have on individuals and their wider communities. We aim to support those communities by helping them gain a better understanding of grief and promote positive and healthy coping mechanisms, recognising when additional support such as counselling is required and encouraging people to come together, enabling them to become resilient, not only being able to cope with their grief but also support those around them.

The successful applicant requires experience of working with C&YP, self-motivation and the ability to manage their own workload. The role will be to provide counselling face-to-face, by telephone and online to adults and C&YP (aged 4+). Some home working
available, however travel throughout the Wirral locality is required, working from a community outreach delivering counselling 1 day per week. Occasional travel to our head office based in Stoke-on-Trent.

You will also be required as part of a wider project team to provide training, group support, signposting and awareness raising for C&YP, Parents/ Carers and Professionals in community locations within the Wirral region, positively raising the awareness about the impact that grief can have on individuals and wider communities. Experience of delivering training, speaking to groups and signposting to required interventions is desirable; however a willingness to progress and develop skills is essential and if you are passionate about positively impacting communities and have transferrable skills then this may be the opportunity for you.

This role includes liaising closely with the management team, communicating with the support team, and with clients.

We need individuals who are passionate about working with families and professionals within their community to help improve the health and wellbeing of those impacted by grief.
